Who is BTHEWISER?
About Me
Brian Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American artist under the name, BTHEWISER pushing the envelope for music in Neo-Soul, Conscious Rap, and everything in between. B was born in Houston and grew up by the coast in Baytown, Texas, attending De Zavala Elementary School. His influences in music began from his two older sisters always listening to radio hits from Rihanna and Fergie to bands like Paramore. After discovering Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N Nite,” that would be the very inspiration itself which lies in the core of his music today. Cudi lead to the discovery of artists that inspired him the most such as: Lil Wayne, Twista, T-Pain, Usher, and Jay Z.
After years of repeated hurricanes and city crime affecting his family’s safety, they moved to central Texas in 2012. Brian was a percussionist in all three years of middle school with the timpani peaking his interest most. It wasn’t until graduating from Hutto High School that he began to produce and write music while pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analytics at the University of North Texas, leading up to his graduation in 2021.
“all my life i’ve felt distinctively different from everyone around me. I grew up wanting to question everything.
as i got older, i knew one thing for certain; i just wanted to create.”
“The art of self-expression leads me in an open meadow, and surprisingly, I’m not enticed by where it will take me. For me,
it’s always been about the adventure along the way. The pursuit of dissecting the many layers of my onion, so to
speak.
It took awhile to detach from the fear of failing since nowadays you get a sense that everyone watches your
every move, and if you don’t execute, you’re perceived as a “at-least-he’s-trying” type of person.
I decided to say to myself:
Let them watch. Put on a show. BE the main character. Have some laughs along the way, and you’ll be golden. This is a journey to the center of myself, and the quest to reach my 10,000 hours, ten fold. “
